Few people know from an early age exactly where they want to go in their career. For SAP Consultant Philippe, it was no different. He worked in various roles at many companies, from startups to multinationals, but gradually discovered that his heart lay in SAP Consultancy. When Nicolas from Eswelt approached him for a position at Danone, everything fell into place.
Philippe de Graaf has a unique background. He completed studies in both computer science and economics, as the intersection between these fields always fascinated him. This combination provided him with new insights into the business context.
After his studies and military service, he entered the corporate world. After holding various roles at large companies, he joined a startup where he learned a lot about entrepreneurship. When this company didn't take off due to global issues, he moved to another software company in a dual role as an SAP SD consultant and co-CEO. After a successful journey of almost 20 years, this firm was acquired, and he realised it was time for something new.
Everything fell into place when he received a message from recruitment consultant Nicolas at Eswelt. There was a concrete position available, and during their conversation, it became clear that there was not only a great connection with Nicolas but also with the specific freelance role as an SAP SD Functional Consultant. It immediately felt right, he says.
"The match was incredible. Danone was looking for an SAP Consultant with experience in SAP SD, EDI, and business. The consultant needed to be fluent in Dutch, French, and English due to extensive contact with external and internal clients in the Benelux region. I am bilingual, speak both Flemish and French, and have relevant EDI experience. And in my international career, I was naturally accustomed to speaking English for work. I had exactly the right profile for this position."
Philippe has now been working as an SAP Consultant at Danone for more than two years and is still happy with his role every day. When he talks about his work, his enthusiasm is evident. "The work environment is professional, and my knowledge and skills align very well with the requirements of my role. The most enjoyable part of my job is optimising processes and solving problems. I feel like I can really add value to the company."
Philippe works in a small, dynamic team for the Benelux region within the larger IT structure of the globally leading food company. The team handles order flows and supply chain management, but Philippe mainly deals with the order and invoicing process. His background in economics is particularly useful here, especially in optimising processes and efficiently handling business-related aspects. He regularly contacts clients, including major supermarket chains in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Philippe has only positive things to say about his experiences with Eswelt. "It's truly surprising how pleasant and efficient everything is arranged at Eswelt. I've never experienced such smooth collaboration. The processes are streamlined, and they are very responsive. Invoices, for example, are approved very quickly and easily through a digital system. As a freelancer, I'm always paid on time, often even before the due date. Even though I know that clients don't always pay promptly. And when it comes to extending assignments, Eswelt is very proactive."
His initial contact person Nicolas has since advanced within the organisation. But he sees the same dynamic and driven mentality that appealed to him in the first contact reflected in his new contact person.
Philippe firmly believes in the importance of the right fit. A fit with the job, but also with the recruitment consultant. At Eswelt, he noticed that they not only listened well to what he was looking for in a role but also to what he could offer his future employer. "It's important to find a good match, both personally and professionally. Don't be tempted too quickly, and keep searching until you find something that really suits you. It's really worth it, and the current market conditions allow for it." For Philippe, the connection with his recruitment consultant made his job search much easier thanks to Eswelt's excellent support.
Philippe's experience is not unique. One of his colleagues was also matched with Danone through Eswelt. "He is just as satisfied with the process with Eswelt. Despite their growth in recent years, they have managed to retain the drive I experienced. They are really excellent at matching. I actually wish everyone could go through a similar process." In any case, it should be clear: with Eswelt's help, Philippe has found his niche.
